Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

What can improve your electrolysis experience? Being well hydrated!

Our bodies are 60% water more or less. We lose water primarily via sweat and urine. It needs to be constantly replenished. Drinking water has number of health benefit such as increased metabolism, proper food digestion, relieving constipation, prevention and treatment of headaches, increased energy levels and brain function, maximum physical performance (1).

Why is drinking water important for electrolysis?

Properly hydrated skin conducts electric currents better than dry skin. Insertions are easier when the skin is hydrated.

“Our need for a hydrated body is simply so that the current will act with the moisture in the follicle with the lowest settings possible.”

Your electrologist would also need to use less energy to release the hair which can make the treatment more comfortable. The goal to use the lowest setting possible while releasing hair without resistance. This can only be achieved by drinking plenty of water.

How much water should you drink each day? No single formula fits everyone. Your individual water needs depend on many factors, including your health, how active you are and where you live.

Knowing more about your body's need for fluids will help you estimate how much water to drink each day. One can start with eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Good indicator whether you have consumed enough water is the color of your urine. If it is clear or very light yellow, you are on track. The darker the color, the more dehydrated you are.
